When I pulled up Tinker Cad for the first time, I thought it was interesting and something that was going to be difficult, however as I got through the lessons I found that it was easier to use than the other systems I have used in school. When I was in seventh grade, we used an architectural program called sketch up. Sketch up was a professional program created under the intention of designing structures in a professional manner. We spent six weeks just learning the basics of this program, however as I got used to it I was able to design things I never thought possible. I got so good at it that the classes were easy 100s. So with this experience, I am going to push Tinker Cad to its limits and see just how good it really is!

From computers to cell phones, technology affects us in many ways. We would never think that a group of people could shape how millions think and act each day. There are engineers who program phone apps so that you spend more and more time searching through your social media posts and comments to find something interesting. For example, the creators of Snap Chat have created something called streaks, which measures how many consecutive days you have messaged somebody. People using snapchat are encouraged to develop these streaks, and are always afraid of losing them when in reality they do nothing for you. Everyone who uses snapchat seems to want to maintain their streaks, and they lose valuable skills
A dispute between two things that feature many battles
War can be good, or it can be bad. What we don't realize is that war is bad for everybody. Regardless of what we think about it, war doesn't sove every one of our problems. If any problem is going to affect the future, it will be the idea that men and women are unequal. There are the radical, man-hating feminists, and there are the women who simply believe in equality without being just plain toxic and stating their point of view in a completely negative way. These kind, rational people are the ones who just want their nicer, more peaceful idea to become a reality. They believe in equality of the genders without negativity. However, the radical variety of feminists have a different agenda, one that is filled with fighting for special privileges just so they themselves can be better than men. These types of feminists are the main threat to the equality in America. Nobody can agree 100% with them, however they do have some good values. For example, equal pay is a pretty major one. But what else might there be?
A question we should keep in mind, do women really want equality? Sure, they may not be paid as much as men and things like that, but they don't have life too bad when you think about it. As Nikita Coulombe said in her article on this topic, "Most of us don't want to pay half the bill on dates, we don't want to work dirty and dangerous jobs, we don't want to be drafted if there is a war, we don't have to prove to a court that our children need us after divorce, and we don't want to serve as unpaid bodyguard or be the first one to go downstairs when we hear a strange noise... and lucky for us, we don't have to" (Coulombe paragraph 3)! In this sentence (paragraph really!), Coulombs explains that women like her get quite a break compared to what men have in their lives, and she is happy with how she lives now. Even though she didn't want equality, a study was performed by the Pew research center that said that a majority believes in equal right for men and women. However, even though most of the people believe in equality, men get the preference in the workforce. This may not be 100% true in America, however a majority of people from other countries still "say they firmly support equal rights for men and women" (Ojalvo paragraph 2). This means even though most people believe in equal rights for men and women, men are still favored in the workforce due to the thought that "men should get preference when it comes to good jobs, higher education or even in some cases the simple right to work outside the home, according to a new survey of 22 nations" (Ojalvo paragraph 2). A possible reason for this is that a common cultural belief is women are more the housekeeping and childbearing type. However, this belief never kept Hillary Clinton from running for president. "This year alone, Hillary Clinton's campaign created a heightened awareness of women in politics and other positions of power for many Americans, let alone those interested in such topics" (Jones paragraph 3). What this shows us is that with a female politician running for president and encouraging people like her to take part in more political roles, we may see a transition of power in a near future. To conclude my work I would like to address the fact that it isn't a bad thing to believe something is right. You have all the rights in the world to think women should have equal rights, and the same goes for thinking women shouldn't have equal rights, and just about any other idea in the world. However, this doesn't mean what you think is right. You may think something is bad, and people who believe it is a good thing may get on to you for thinking that. That is just their opinion on your thought. I wrote this not to offend people, but to address a problem that we will have to all face sometime in our lives. If we can curb this and bring our world one step closer to peace, this may be a good place to start. |
